It all began . . . . .

two years after we lost precious Heather. We wanted to do something to honor her memory. With her love of children in mind, we decided to put together backpacks for children at the Safe Shelter. The backpacks contained a blanket, toy, toothbrush w/ toothpaste and a coloring book with crayons. Our goal was to be able to give the children something of their own that they could keep. The employees liked the idea and the children loved the backpacks. As our family and friends found out what we were doing, they wanted to participate. The more resources, the more we were able to do. The toy room was our next venture. Thanks to the generosity of people who loved Heather, we were able to outfit the room with new carpet and all new toys. Our monthly maintenance in the toy room includes removing broken toys, replacing them, sorting and cleaning.

We expanded our efforts to the Department of Human Services. We offered them backpacks for the foster children. They gladly accepted and also allowed us to paint murals in the four visitation rooms. A clothes closet soon followed. Our maintenance includes cleaning the visitation rooms, replacing toys, and keeping clothes sorted and orderly for the Social Workers to give to children when they are removed from their homes.

For anyone who sees this beautiful face how can you do anything but help. This is one of the most beautiful things in rememberance of a lovely child I have ever seen.
Be sure to pray for the support of Heathers Closet and Kym and Wendy.
